Assam: Awesome Assam

 Assam is a state in the northeastern India known for its rich culture, diverse population and natural beauty. Assam is situated south of the eastern Himalayas and is bordered by Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh to the north, Nagaland and Manipur to the east, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Bangladesh to the south and west Bengal to the west. The great Brahmaputra River one of the major rivers of the world, flows through Assam. The region is known for its lush green landscapes, tea plantations and rich biodiversity. The climate is predominantly tropical monsoon with heavy rainfall and humid conditions, especially during the monsoon season from June to September. 

Assam is famous for its tea industry producing a significant portion of India's tea. Assam tea is known for its robust flavor and bright color. The state is also rich in natural resources including oil and natural gas, coal and limestone. Agriculture is a major part of the economy with rice, jute and various fruits and vegetables being important crops.

Assam has a diverse culture influenced by various ethic groups, including the Assamese, Bodos and many tribal communities. Bihu is the most important festival celebrated with traditional music, dance and feasting to mark the Assamese New Year and the agriculture cycle. The state has a rich tradition of arts and crafts including handloom weaving specially Assam silk, pottery and bamboo crafts.



Kaziranga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage is famous for its population of the endangered one horned rhinoceros. Manas National Park is another UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its tiger and elephant populations. Majuli is the world's largest river island is a cultural hotspot and a center for Vaishnavite culture. Sivasangar with its historical monuments from the Ahom dynasty is a significant cultural and historical site. Kamakhya Temple is a sacred Hindu temple with intricate architecture located on the Nilachal Hill in Guwahati.

Assam has a rich history with the Ahom dynasty ruling the region for six centuries until the British colonization. The region played a significant role in India's independence movement.
